  3. Use a tiny plastic scoop to remove the gunk from the gutters. Gutter scoops are sold at hardware stores, but a child’s sandbox shovel would do. You may also use an old plastic cooking spatula, which will not damage the gutters. 
  4. Place a tarp beneath your workplace to catch all of the gutter gunk and safeguard your lawn and plants.
  5. After you’ve cleaned out the gutters, use a garden hose to flush the gutters and downspouts and clear away any remaining debris. This will also tell you whether or not you have any leaks.
  6. Repair any sagging metal after the gutters are cleaned. You may do this by installing a gutter hanger. Many gutter repairs are do-it-yourself projects.
